Take out grass and other existing vegetation
- Use a flat spade
- Make sure that all grass and weeds are out before anything else
- Spread the compost about two to three inches thick
Turn Soil over to a depth of eight inches
- Use a garden spade, fork or roto-tiller
- Break up heavy clods
